Marion County Fire Rescue looking to fill new positions

Marion County Fire Rescue is looking to fill new positions that were approved by county commissioners this week.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution for the addition of 16 new positions within MCFR as part of the consent agenda during its regular meeting on Tuesday.

The approval will move funds in order to staff two high performance ambulances and one dual-certified ambulance.

These ambulances will require the addition of four Emergency Medical Technicians (pay grade 408), five Paramedic positions (pay grade 409), and seven firefighter positions (pay grade 401).

According to county records, the budget impact to fund these positions is nearly $980,000.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the McPherson Governmental Campus Auditorium (601 SE 25th Avenue).
