Marion County Public Schools is seeking the public’s feedback on new math textbooks and materials that are being adopted for all grade levels.
An open review night is scheduled on Wednesday, January 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Building 2 of the Robert “Mack” Dunwoody Educational Complex located on the Marion Technical Institute campus at 1614 E Fort King Street in Ocala.
During this event, members of the public will have the chance to physically review potential textbooks and materials that are being considered by the district adoption review committees for next school year.
According to MCPS, parents, teachers, and community members are currently involved in reviewing the instructional materials. Course-specific committees can include up to 15 voting members consisting of up to eight teachers, two parents, and five community members appointed by the Marion County School Board.
Following the public viewing, review committee members will consider the public’s input during an upcoming meeting on January 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at West Port High School located at 3733 SW 80th Avenue in Ocala.
The committee members will also vote to recommend titles to the superintendent who will then advance those recommendations to the Marion County School Board.
