An Ocala resident recently became a millionaire.
The Florida Lottery announced on Wednesday, January 5 that local resident John McTiernan claimed a $2 million top prize from the $2,000,000 50x Cashword scratch-off game at the Gainesville District Office.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Metro Food Mart located at 3818 NE 7th Street in Ocala. The store will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
McTiernan chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $1.76 million.
