‘After Dark in the Park’ free movie series begins this week at Webb Field

‘After Dark in the Park’ is heading to Webb Field this week for the first installment of this year’s free movie series.

On Friday, February 25 at 7 p.m., the series begins with “The Princess and the Frog” at Webb Field in the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Complex (1510 NW 4th Street).

The G-rated animated film tells the story of a prince who is transformed into a frog and accidentally curses a princess with an amphibian form when he kisses her in an attempt to break the spell.

The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Popcorn, drinks, and other refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Ocala Recreation and Parks department is hosting additional free movie events at various parks across the city on select Fridays throughout the year:

  • Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. – “Dreamgirls” (rated PG-13) at Tuscawilla Art Park (213 NE 5th Street).
  • Friday, September 9 at 8 p.m. – “The Karate Kid” (rated PG) at Tuscawilla Park Oak Grove (500 NE 9th Street).
  • Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. – “The Village” (rated PG-13) at Fort King National Historic Landmark (3925 E Fort King Street).
  • Friday, December 16 at 7 p.m. – “The Santa Clause” (rated PG) at Tuscawilla Park Oak Grove (500 NE 9th Street).
