Ocala man arrested after punching male victim outside liquor store in Ocklawaha

A 58-year-old Ocala man was arrested after he punched a male victim and knocked out a tooth during a physical altercation that occurred outside of a liquor store in Ocklawaha.

On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to Ocklawaha Liquors (13520 E Highway 25) and observed two men who were involved in a verbal altercation. When additional MCSO deputies arrived on scene, it was determined that the altercation between both men may have been physical.

An MCSO deputy located the male victim who stated that he was at the liquor store to speak with the owner about his tax return check. While inside the store, he claimed that the owner became upset during the conversation.

The victim exited the store and came into contact with Glenn Howard Lore. According to the MCSO report, Lore would often help out around the store.

The victim stated that a verbal altercation with Lore ensued. When the victim began to walk into the parking lot, he stated that Lore tackled him from behind. While on the ground, he stated that Lore struck him in the face and head multiple times.

According to the victim, Lore then stood up, and the victim was able to get away. One of his teeth had been knocked out during the incident, and he stated that he spat it onto the ground. The victim told the deputy that he had “bad teeth” and that they can get easily knocked out.

The MCSO report indicated that there was redness on the victim’s face and around his mouth. The victim showed the deputy where the tooth had fallen out, and the deputy noted in the report that the tooth appeared to have been recently removed.

A female eyewitness was at a red light near the store at the time of the incident. She told the deputy that she observed Lore as he pushed the victim to the ground. She recalled seeing Lore strike the victim several times with his fist before he let the victim get up.

According to the witness, the victim did not fight back and did not appear to touch Lore during the incident.

The deputy interviewed Lore, and he stated that the victim was causing an issue at the store. According to Lore, the victim was asked to leave, and a verbal argument had ensued.

Lore claimed that the victim chest bumped him during the argument. He mentioned to the deputy that he has PTSD, and he stated that if someone touches him, they are “going to the ground.”

The store owner confirmed that the victim had been causing issues at the store and was asked to leave. The owner did not witness any altercation between Lore and the victim.

According to the MCSO report, a criminal background check on Lore revealed that he had two prior battery convictions in 1991 and 1999.

Lore was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $2,000 bond. He is facing a felony charge for battery (second or subsequent offense).

A court date has been scheduled on Tuesday, May 17 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
