More residents want Costco, other grocer options in Ocala

More residents have submitted letters regarding new grocers and national chains that they would like to see in Ocala/Marion County.

“This area is building up so quickly and I believe that it can support some variety. Personally, I would like to see a Whole Foods store and perhaps a Trader Joe’s here. I believe that the area between Wildwood and Ocala can support this. Anyone else agree?” says Wildwood resident Mary Wilson.

“I would love a Trader Joe’s and a Cheesecake Factory in Ocala. I live off Baseline and we need more businesses on this side of town,” says Rita Miller, Ocala resident.

“I used to go to Costco in Dallas all the time. I would love for there to be one here because I miss the delicious already-made foods, like their chicken salad, tuna salad, and the prices for bulk items. There are lots of seniors here that would enjoy the deli and other delicious treats, and they would benefit greatly from the low prices. There is plenty of land with parking. Please put a Costco in Ocala,” says Ocala resident Destiny Hux.

“I moved to Florida three years ago after nearly 30 years of living in the southwest and having multiple Costco stores available to shop. I’m at a loss regarding why Costco doesn’t have a footprint in this area. We are stuck with Sam’s Club, Walmart, and Publix. I was a Costco shopper for all my years in the southwest. The people here would more than support Costco,” says Thomas Clarke, Ocala resident.

“Please open a Costco in Ocala. I’ve been a member of Costco ever since I lived in New Jersey, and my nearest store is in Tampa or Orlando. The cost to get there, between gas and tolls, is too much money. Ocala really needs a Costco here,” says Ocala resident Elizabeth Cruz.
