The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is currently looking for volunteer coaches to participate in the summer season of its Future Stars Basketball League.
The co-ed basketball league for children will kick off its 2022 season at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center (1510 NW 4th Street in Ocala) on Monday, June 6, and the season will run through Thursday, July 14.
The league will play its games between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Practice dates and times for the individual age divisions (ages 5 to 7, 8 to 10, and 11 to 13) will be announced by coaches.
Anyone who is interested in volunteering or coaching should contact Jacob Baker (352-401-3920) or Roosevelt Overstreet (352-401-3909). A background check will be required.
The co-ed league will focus on basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The teams will participate in five weeks of regular season games, and the season will conclude with a week-long tournament.
There is a $40 fee per child, and each participant must be within their age division at the time of registration.
