Marion Charles Johnson Jr. was affectionately known as “PA”, Dad, Uncle Chuck, MC, and Blacks, was born in Gainesville, FL November 10, 1041 to the late Sheba Connie Johnson and Reverend Marion Johnson. He was educated in Gainesville, FL graduating from Lincoln High School class of 1959.

PA developed a passion for cooking. His first employment was Holiday Inn 13th Street Gainesville, FL. Later, he gained employment at the Division of Plant Industry at the University of Florida, working a total of 46 years.

PA’s lifelong passion was cooking and watching his beloved FL GATORS. He prepared and served many meals in restaurants in Gainesville and Ocala. As he often reminded us, “I can burn now!” He won the Taste of Ocala as head Chef at Peter Dinkles Restaurant in Ocala.

PA loved his church: United Missionary Baptist Church. He spearheaded several culinary fund-raising events for his church. He was a faithful member for over 40 years, until his health started to decline.

He is preceded in death by his daughter: Sonia Johnson, granddaughter Jemil Johnson, sisters Althea Williams, Rosemary Dunn, and brother Alfred Johnson.

He leaves to Cherish his memories; Sons, Charles Johnson (Laurette) Oklahoma City, OK, Shune Polite Tampa, FL, Marion Johnson III Bradenton FL, Daughters, Terri Scott (Marcus) Brunswick, GA, Jwan Johnson-Nguyen(Hori), Philadelphia, PA, Tessa Bowers Dallas, TX, Brother, Johnell Johnson (Cynthia) Gainesville, FL, Sister, Mary Edith Danzy Gainesville, FL, Grandchildren; Miranda Johnson, Charles Johnson Jr., Justin Daniels (Mariesha), Jade Daniels, Jasmine Campbell, Jasmine Polite, Shune Polite (Brittany), Rashard Johnson, Shynicia Polite, Shekinah Nightingale (Jordan) , Shania Polite, Miles Johnson, Elodie Nguyen. 18 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss him.
