One killed, three injured in multi-vehicle crash at Ocala intersection

The Ocala Police Department is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of NW 27th Avenue and NW 10th Street on Saturday evening.

Shortly before the accident, a 66-year-old woman was traveling northbound on NW 27th Avenue, near the intersection of NW 10th Street, in a silver Honda Pilot, according to OPD.

At the same time, a 20-year-old man was traveling eastbound on NW 10th Street in a red Hyundai Elantra, and a 65-year-old woman (driver) and 55-year-old man (front seat passenger) were also traveling westbound on NW 10th Street in a light blue BMW 228i. Both vehicles were approaching the intersection of NW 27th Avenue.

According to video surveillance from a nearby business, the BMW and Hyundai were stopped at the intersection before the crash. When the traffic pattern changed, eastbound and westbound lanes began to travel, and the BMW and Hyundai moved forward through the intersection.

The Honda, which was heading northbound, failed to stop and entered the intersection. The front of the Honda struck the front of the Hyundai and then collided with the driver’s side of the BMW.

The crash is currently under investigation.
