During the Marion County Board of County Commissioners meeting that was held on Tuesday, Carl Zalak, III and Kathy Bryant were sworn in as commissioners for another four-year term.
Over the past 12 years, Commissioner Zalak has served as a commissioner for District 4 in northeast Marion County. This year marks the beginning of his fourth term on the Marion County Board of County Commissioners.
Commissioner Zalak served as the liaison to Emergency Management, Marion County Senior Services, and the CLM Workforce during the 2021-2022 fiscal year. During this time, he also served as the Chairman to the Board of County Commissioners.
Since 2010, Commissioner Kathy Bryant has served on the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, and she served as Chairman four times. She represents District 2, which encompasses the southwestern portion of Marion County.
Commissioner Bryant has also been presented with the Presidential Advocacy Award from the Florida Association of Counties and she previously served as President of the Florida Association of Counties. Currently, she serves as the Vice Chairwoman of the Florida Association of Counties’ Finance, Tax, and Administration Committee.
The November 15 meeting also included the appointment of Commissioner Craig Curry as the new Chairman to the Board of County Commissioners, and Commissioner Michelle Stone took over as Vice Chairwoman.
Commissioner Curry and Commissioner Stone will serve in these positions until November of 2023.
