Mary Sue Rich Community Center to host grand opening celebration

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is inviting the public to attend the grand opening celebration of the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place on Saturday, January 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The grand opening event is free and open to the public, and it will feature various activities, games, and prizes. In addition, guests will be able to tour the facility and register for memberships.

The Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala, will serve as a hub for the community. The 41,750 square foot, two-story building includes designated indoor space for senior, youth, and family programs; a banquet/event space; fitness equipment; an indoor walking track; two full basketball courts; a library; and multi-purpose studio rooms.

Annual memberships are available and allow for visitors to enjoy the community center’s amenities and programming throughout the year. The memberships are free for Ocala residents and cost $30 per year for non-residents.

“We are excited to invite the public to enjoy this new, state-of-the-art facility that boasts an impressive number of amenities for children and adults,” said Preston Pooser, Ocala Recreation and Parks Department Director.

“Our team is excited to open the Mary Sue Rich Community Center. With athletics and fitness programming to special interest classes for all ages and abilities, we are thrilled to open this outstanding facility to better serve our residents,” added Pooser.

The community center’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Sunday (12 p.m. to 5 p.m.). The facility will be closed for major holidays.
