FHP Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper Vehicle

A 27-year-old man from Weirsdale was killed early Wednesday morning after his pickup truck crashed into a fence and several trees in Marion County.

At around 12 a.m., the man was heading westbound in a pickup truck on SE 175th Street in Weirsdale. While traveling at a high rate of speed, the vehicle crossed over the center line and exited the roadway in a southwesterly direction, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the pickup truck proceeded to enter the grass shoulder and its front section struck a fence. Moments after that initial collision, the pickup truck crashed into several trees, and the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.

The FHP report indicated that the driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Marion County Fire Rescue personnel.

The name of the driver was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
