Two people were hospitalized on Thursday evening after suffering burns in an explosion at a Japanese steakhouse in Ocala.
At approximately 5 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue crews consisting of Engine 6, Rescue 4, and Battalion 11 were dispatched to Edo Sushi and Japanese Steakhouse located at 4414 SW College Road due to reports of an explosion at the restaurant.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, crews were directed to the open grill area where they observed extinguishing powder on the ground and two burn victims.

After the two victims were assessed by crew members, they were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
There were no additional injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently unknown, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the restaurant.
