Two adults and four children were displaced on Friday morning after a fire ignited inside their home in Citra.
Shortly before 8:40 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residence located in the 800 block of NE 140th Street in Citra. Multiple individuals had contacted 911 to report that heavy smoke and flames were visible from the home.
MCFR’s Sparr Station 19 arrived on scene at 8:42 a.m. According to MCFR, Rescue 19’s crews entered the residence as crew members from Engine 19 deployed a hose line into the home to combat the flames.
A primary search of the home’s interior was conducted by Rescue 19’s crew members as firefighters moved quickly to extinguish the flames on the right side of the home.
Battalion Chief 1 arrived at the residence and established command. Anthony Engine 1’s crews conducted a secondary search of the home with negative results, and Engine 1’s crew members checked the home to see if the fire had extended to other parts of the structure.
The fire was called under control at 9 a.m. The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
The American Red Cross arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the family that was displaced by the fire.
