Ocala’s Earthfest returns in April to celebrate Arbor Day

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host Earthfest, the city’s Arbor Day celebration, on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tuscawilla Park located at 800 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala.

The free family-friendly event will feature tree climbing, eco-friendly vendors, an interactive butterfly exhibit, animal rescues, food trucks, and live entertainment. Tree sapling giveaways will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis during the event.

The popular Youth Fishing Derby will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, and it will provide an opportunity for participating youth (ages 14 and under) to catch and release fish at Lake Tuscawilla. Prizes will be awarded in three age group brackets for catching the most fish and for catching the biggest fish.

Registration for the Youth Fishing Derby is not required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait, though a limited number of supplies will be available.
