‘Metamorphosis’ 2023 Student and Emerging Artist exhibit on display at Ocala City Hall

The City of Ocala and Magnolia Art Xchange are inviting the public to check out the 2023 Student and Emerging Artist exhibition, “Metamorphosis,” which is now on display at Ocala City Hall.

The exhibit highlights local artists with varying levels of experience. Over 45 pieces of artwork are being displayed on the first and second floor lobbies inside City Hall located at 110 SE Watula Avenue in Ocala.

On Monday, April 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., an opening exhibit reception will be held at City Hall. During the event, those in attendance will be treated to live music by flutist Janet Skehan of J & J Flute, and light refreshments will be served.

An award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the first-floor lobby, and all winners of the competition will be announced. The artists are competing in three divisions according to their respective years of experience, from high school students to artists with multiple years of active experience.

The prizes for the competition will include scholarships to the College of Central Florida (High School Division), a professional art framing at Cartigliano Arts (Best of Show), a free class at Picasso’s Palette (Best of Show), an Artist Affiliate Membership to Magnolia Art Xchange (first place in each division and Best of Show), an annual membership to the Appleton Museum of Art and Marion Cultural Alliance (all winners), and a registration fee waiver for the 2023-24 season of the First Friday Art Walk (all winners).

The “Metamorphosis” exhibit is free and open to the public, and the artwork will remain on display through Thursday, October 12 at City Hall.
