‘Ocala: The Art of Community’ exhibit opens this week

A new exhibit featuring the artwork of 50 local artists will soon be on display at the Brick City Center for the Arts in Ocala.

The exhibit, “Ocala: The Art of Community,” will feature creations by Marion Cultural Alliance artist members that were inspired by images throughout the city. In addition, it will celebrate the release of MCA’s new published coffee-table book, which has the same title as this month’s exhibit.

On Friday, May 5, MCA will host an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brick City Center for the Arts located at 23 SW Broadway Street. This reception is open to MCA members, artists, and patrons only, and it will include light refreshments, drinks, and a chance to meet the artists. Those who are interested in attending must RSVP.

Immediately following the opening reception, the gallery will open to the general public during the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Ocala from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Ocala: The Art of Community” will remain on display at the Brick City Center for the Arts through Saturday, May 27, during regular gallery hours: Monday through Friday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
