City hosting free ‘lunch and learn’ workshop on Brownfields Program

The City of Ocala’s Growth Management Department is hosting a free lunch and learn event this week that will provide an in-depth look at the city’s Brownfields Program.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, June 8, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brick City Center for the Arts located at 23 SW Broadway Street in Ocala.

A brownfield site is a property where actual or perceived environmental contamination complicates its expansion or redevelopment. Sites may be contaminated with hazardous substances, petroleum, pesticides, metals, and asbestos.

During the workshop, local contractors, property owners, realtors, and the public will have an opportunity to determine what a brownfield area is while learning about the history of brownfields in Ocala and grant opportunities for site assessment.

This event is free to attend and open to the public. A light lunch will also be provided.

For more information, visit the City of Ocala’s Brownfields Program webpage or call 352-629-8404.
