Several Ocala parks closed due to flooding and storm damage

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department has announced that several of the city’s parks are closed, effective immediately, due to flood damage that was caused by storms within the area this morning.

The following City of Ocala parks are currently closed and will remain closed until further notice:

  • Tuscawilla Park (500 NE Sanchez Avenue).
  • Fisher Park (900 SE 22nd Street).
  • S. Stanley Malever Nature Park (1600 SE 30th Avenue).

Many parts of the city experienced flood conditions from the torrential downpour that drenched the area. Below are photos of several streets in Ocala that were flooded by the heavy rainfall:

“Please use caution while driving, and roads that appear to be washed out or flooded should not be used,” stated the City of Ocala in a social media post. “If you see standing water within a road, remember the saying Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
