Police investigating drive-by shootings in two Gainesville neighborhoods

The Gainesville Police Department is investigating two drive-by shootings that sent two people to the hospital on Friday night.

At approximately 10:23 p.m., GPD officers responded to a neighborhood located in the area of 1200 SE 19th Terrace in Gainesville, after receiving several calls about a drive-by shooting in the area.

Upon arrival, officers observed that the gunfire had struck several vehicles in the neighborhood. In a social media post, GPD stated that there were no reports of any individuals who had been shot.

Less than 30 minutes later, at around 10:49 p.m., GPD officers were dispatched to a neighborhood located in the 1100 block of NE 25th Terrace after receiving reports that a person had been shot. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived on scene, and both victims were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Officers and detectives are actively working both shooting scenes. It is unknown at this time if both shootings are related,” stated the Gainesville Police Department on its Facebook page.
