Marion firefighters rescue woman from burning mobile home

A woman was rescued by Marion County firefighters early Thursday morning after a fire broke out in her mobile home.

Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a mobile home at 3:56 a.m. after receiving reports of a mobile structure fire with someone trapped inside. According to MCFR, the 911 caller had advised that she was trapped in her bedroom, and flames were blocking the exit.

MCFR stated that the woman was struggling to breathe while on the phone, and the call was dropped shortly after she moved into the bathroom.

At 4:06 a.m., MCFR’s Rolling Greens Rescue #28 unit arrived at the mobile home and immediately began rescue efforts. Crews entered the home and searched for the woman while firefighters from several units began attacking the flames inside the home.

The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation, according to MCFR. There were no injuries reported to firefighters.

“We train for these exact moments,” stated Fire Chief James Banta. “Crews on scene were well prepared and executed this rescue flawlessly. Because of them, the patient has another chance at life.”
