Bear caught at Disney released into Ocala National Forest

A black bear that forced the closure of multiple rides at Walt Disney World last week was captured and safely released into the Ocala National Forest.

The adult female bear was spotted at Magic Kingdom on Monday, September 18. On that day, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported that the bear had become stuck in a tree near the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride.

In a video provided by FWC, the bear is seen exiting a vehicle before beginning her new life at the forest.

At the time, the bear’s presence at the theme park forced the closure of more than a dozen rides, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise, among several others.

According to officials, FWC law enforcement officers and the organization’s Bear Management Program were able to safely capture the adult female bear. She was relocated last week to the Ocala National Forest.

The rides reopened on Monday afternoon after the bear was located.
