City hiring firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics

Ocala Fire Rescue is currently looking for Florida certified firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics to join its team.

Firefighters perform public safety work involving the protection of life and property by responding to emergency incidents, fighting fires, and using Emergency Medical Services (EMS) skills, according to a job posting on the City of Ocala’s website.

In addition, firefighters engage in fire code enforcement, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

The starting salary for a firefighter/EMT is $50,000.26, and firefighter/paramedics earn a starting salary of $60,208.26 (upon medical clearance from the medical director).

According to the city, both positions are eligible for benefits that include life scan physicals, promotional opportunities, in-rank upgrades, low-cost group health coverage, a free employee clinic, annual and sick leave, annual vacation leave, six-week Kelly Day, a defined benefits pension plan, licensing renewal, tuition reimbursement, educational incentives, and opportunities for additional pay and incentives for specialized teams.
