City announces road closures for this weekend’s Ocala Arts Festival

The City of Ocala has announced the road closures and detours that will be in effect for the 56th Annual Ocala Arts Festival, which will be held on Saturday, October 28, and Sunday, October 29 in downtown Ocala.

Due to this weekend’s festival, the following road closures will be in effect beginning at 5 a.m. on Friday, October 27 through 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 29:

  • SE 1st Avenue, from SE 3rd Street to E Silver Springs Boulevard.
  • E Broadway Street, from SW 1st Avenue to Osceola Avenue.
  • SW 1st Avenue, from SW Broadway Street to SW 2nd Street.
  • E Fort King Street, from Osceola Avenue to SW 2nd Street.
  • SE 2nd Street, from Osceola Avenue to SW 1st Avenue.
  • SE Magnolia Avenue, from SE 3rd Street to Silver Springs Boulevard.

The following detour routes will be in effect as well:

  • Northbound – SE 1st Avenue: East on SE 5th Street, north on Watula Avenue, west on Silver Springs Boulevard, back to NE 1st Avenue.
  • Eastbound – W Broadway Street: South on SW 2nd Avenue, east on SW 2nd Street, south on SW 1st Avenue, east on SE 3rd Street, north on Watula Avenue, back to E Broadway Street.
  • Eastbound – W Fort King Street: South on SW 2nd Avenue, east on SW 2nd Street, south on SW 1st Avenue, east on SE 5th Street, north on Watula Avenue, back to E Fort King Street.
  • Eastbound – SW 2nd Street: south on SW 1st Avenue, east on SE 5th Street, north on Watula Avenue, back to SE 2nd Street.
  • Southbound – N Magnolia Avenue: West on State Road 40, south on SW 1st Avenue, west on SW Broadway Street, south on SW 2nd Avenue, east on SW 2nd Street, south on SW 1st Avenue, east on SW 5th Street, back to Magnolia Avenue.

On Saturday, October 28, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., motorists will encounter an additional road closure on SW/SE 3rd Street, from Osceola Avenue to Watula Avenue. This closure will be in place to accommodate the Ocala Downtown Market.
