Motorcyclist killed after crashing into pickup truck at Ocala intersection

A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Saturday morning after he crashed into a pickup truck in southwest Ocala.

At around 10 a.m., a 63-year-old man from Belleview was traveling northbound on SW 60th Avenue in a pickup truck. He was in the left turn lane at the intersection of SW 66th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that at the same time, the motorcyclist from Ocala was heading southbound on SW 60th Avenue, and he was in the right lane as he approached the intersection of SW 66th Street.

According to the report, the pickup truck entered the intersection and began making a left turn. The motorcycle also proceeded to enter the intersection, and the front of the motorcycle struck the pickup truck’s right front passenger door.

After the collision, the pickup truck came to a controlled final rest on SW 66th Street, and the motorcycle came to a final rest on its right side in the intersection.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The report stated that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The fatal crash on Saturday morning marks the third time in two days that a motorcyclist has been killed in a crash on a road in Ocala. The other two crashes occurred less than an hour apart on Friday afternoon.
