Several readers submitted letters to Ocala-News.com to share their thoughts on whether or not Costco should come to the Ocala/Marion County area.
“Costco would do really well in Ocala. There are more people coming to the city from out of state. I know because I am one of them. The cost savings for many, especially in this economy, is exactly why it’s important to have an affordable and more practical store. The demographics may need to be updated. The opportunity to have a Costco here should be a must-have for the city. People moving are more inclined to relocate to stores they know are effective to their daily necessities,” says Ocala resident Felix Fregoso.
“I agree with a gentleman’s letter. We need a Costco here in Gainesville. So many residents and more are coming in, plus the thousands of students and their parents when they come up. It would be an asset to our community and yours,” says Joni DeProspero, Newberry resident.
“I can certainly understand why there is no Costco in Ocala, but why do we have to be saddled to that dump of a store called Sam’s Club? Just getting to the gas pumps is a nightmare, with in-and-out traffic crossing each other while trying to navigate through all those orange cones. When is Sam’s Club finally going to upgrade their store to give shoppers something that actually works and end looking like a never-ending construction zone?” says Ocala resident Robert Miller.
