A plus-size women’s clothing store with over 600 locations across the nation has opened its first establishment in Ocala.
Torrid is now open for business at the Paddock Mall. The business held an official ribbon cutting last week at the mall, which is located at 3100 SW College Road.
The business markets itself to plus-size women who are looking to purchase clothing between the sizes of 10 and 30. It features a variety of women’s clothing and accessories in larger sizes, including dresses, blouses, pants, shorts, skirts, shoes, jewelry, hosiery, outerwear, beauty products, and novelty tees, among others.
The business also offers its own series of undergarments, Torrid Curve. That line features bra cup sizes B through H, and band sizes 36 to 50. Torrid also offers plus-size lingerie options like bra and panty sets, bralettes, babydolls, and shapewear.
During the season, the business says it also carries plus-size swimwear and high-waisted swimsuits, beach cover ups, wide width sandals, jackets, and cocktail dresses.
Founded in 2001 in La Brea, California, the company is owned by Sycamore Partners, which also owns Hot Topic. In 2015, the company separated the brand and became Torrid, LLC. Currently, there are over 600 locations in operation across three dozen states.
Currently, the company operates multiple locations across the state of Florida, including establishments in Altamonte Springs, Orlando, Brooksville, Kissimmee, Daytona Beach, Lakeland, Wesley Chapel, Gainesville, Tampa, Brandon, St. Augustine, Clearwater, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, and Melbourne.
