The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 4 p.m., MCSO deputies responded to the 16800 block of NE 41st Court in Citra in reference to shots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, they located a deceased Black female.
The victim’s name was not released by the sheriff’s office since investigators are in the process of notifying her next of kin.
In an update on social media, MCSO stated that investigators are working to identify and locate a possible suspect. The sheriff’s office added that the fatal shooting appears to be an “isolated incident.”
MCSO Major Crimes detectives have arrived at the incident location and are currently conducting a homicide investigation.
