A bookbinder whose mixed-media books explore identity, sexuality, and human relationships, will give an in-depth talk about visual arts and his artistic journey this week.
Jacob Z. Wan will speak at the Webber Gallery (3001 SW College Rd) on Monday, April 8, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wan, who judged the current student exhibition, is a bookbinder who creates mixed-media books that celebrate the importance of “self.”
His artwork is critically acclaimed and has been exhibited internationally in Germany and China, as well as at the Florida Biennial and the International Book Art Exhibition in New York. Wan has received his BFA and MFA from the University of Central Florida and currently teaches at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
During this upcoming talk, Wan will discuss the Visual Arts Program at UNF, as well as offer glimpses into his own artistic journey.
