Sammie Jay Herrin, 82, of Ocklawaha, Florida, passed away on April 3, 2024 in Ocala, Florida.
He was born in Ocala, Florida to Sam & Ruth Herrin on July 3, 1941. He attended Ocala High School and graduated in 1959. He proudly served in the Marine Corps for 4 years before becoming a service technician for Sears in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As soon as he retired, he moved back to the Ocala area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially feeding the birds and squirrels at his home. He loved going to his high school luncheons, talking with neighbors & friends and being with family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Goldman (Michael) of Belleview, Florida and Sondra Grandfield (Jim) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, grandchildren Kristin Torres (Anthony) of Belleview, Florida, Jackson Goldman of Belleview, Florida, Emily Spangler (Eli) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Nancy Grandfield of Virginia Beach, Virginia, great grandchildren Lennon Torres & Elliott Torres. Brother Bill Herrin (Margaret) of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Ruth Herrin of Ocklawaha, Florida.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, located at 606 SW 2nd Ave in Ocala.
