Earthfest returns to Tuscawilla Park this weekend

The city of Ocala will celebrate Arbor Day with multiple family-friendly activities, including rock wall climbing, butterfly feeding, and a Youth Fishing Derby that gives children the chance to catch and release fish at Lake Tuscawilla.

The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host Earthfest on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tuscawilla Park (800 NE Sanchez Avenue) in Ocala.

Free and open to the public, Earthfest will feature a slew of activities for attendees of all ages. At 10 a.m., the two-hour Youth Fishing Derby will take place, providing participants (ages 14 and under) the opportunity to catch and release fish at Lake Tuscawilla.

Prizes will be awarded in three age group brackets for catching the most fish and catching the biggest fish. A limited number of supplies will be available, though participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait. Registration for the fishing derby is not required.

In addition to the fishing activities, Earthfest will include rock wall climbing, butterfly feeding, eco-friendly vendors, animal rescues, food trucks, and live music. Tree sapling giveaways will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
