Overnight closures continue on CR 484 as crews add lanes, extensions

A stretch of County Road 484 near I-75 will experience overnight closures and a traffic shift is in place along CR 475A as crews continue constructing additional turn lanes and turn lane extensions at one of Ocala’s busiest interchanges.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists of overnight closures of the westbound, outside lane of County Road 484 near Interstate 75.

The closures begin on Sunday, May 12, and will continue through Friday, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

In addition to the closure, County Road 475A will experience a traffic shift “north of CR 484,” according to FDOT.

Crews will work on drainage and utility-related activities during the time, as part of a bigger project “to improve safety and traffic flow,” according to FDOT.

“Please reduce your speed and exercise caution throughout the construction zone,” reads the statement from FDOT.

The project consists of the construction of additional turn lanes, as well as the reconstruction of the westbound through lanes and the modification of the existing I-75 bridge in order to accommodate the wider lanes.

According to the state, the project will also improve bicycle lane and pedestrian sidewalk connectivity through the project limits.
