A new nursing center at a local college is taking shape and should be completed later this year, just in time for its first classes in January.

The Center for Nursing is currently under construction at the College of Central Florida (3001 SW College Road).
College officials broke ground on the 40,000-square-foot, $20 million dollar expansion project last September.

The college hopes to have the nursing center ready to offer its first set of beginning in January 2025.
In the spring of 2023, the college received a $6.7 million Linking Industry to Nursing Education grant from the Florida Legislature to expand its nursing program.

Other funding for the project came from the Marion County Hospital District and the Marion County Board of County Commissioners.
