The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a female suspect accused of reaching into another woman’s purse and stealing her wallet inside an Ocala Walmart.
According to MCSO, the theft occurred at around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, August 19, at the Walmart located at 34 Bahia Avenue in Ocala.
The sheriff’s office stated that the female victim was in the produce section of the store when she looked away from her purse for a “brief moment.” While the victim was distracted, the female suspect proceeded to steal the victim’s Louis Vuitton wallet out of her purse.
The victim told law enforcement that she followed the suspect to the exit and noticed a “wallet-shaped bulge” in the suspect’s shirt. When the victim confronted the suspect about the theft, the suspect ran out of the store and drove away in a black Hyundai SUV.
A detective has identified the man who is listed as the registered owner of the SUV. However, the detective has been unable to identify the female suspect who fled from the store in the vehicle, according to MCSO.
