The Ocala Police Department is conducting an investigation after two officers fired their guns outside a local diner following a vehicle pursuit Sunday morning.

According to OPD, the pursuit began on Sunday morning in the 1800 block of NE 14th Street, and it came to an end at Darrell’s Diner located at 5125 E Silver Springs Boulevard.

In the diner’s parking lot, OPD stated that the “actions of the driver and vehicle” prompted two officers to “use force with their service weapons.”

The unidentified driver of the vehicle was not struck by the gunfire. However, the driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No further details were provided regarding the officer-involved shooting incident or what led to the vehicle pursuit.

In a media release, the Ocala Police Department stated, “We are currently investigating this incident and more details can be shared when it’s available to do so.”
