A house under construction in northeast Ocala was engulfed by flames on Sunday night.

At around 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, Marion County Fire Rescue and Ocala Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the 3200 block of NE 35th Place in reference to a residential structure fire.

According to MCFR, a 911 caller had reported that a home, which was still under construction, had caught fire.

Shortly after 10 a.m., firefighters arrived on scene, and they observed heavy smoke and flames rising from the home. MCFR stated that a perimeter search of the property revealed that the back of the house had sustained heavy damage from the blaze.

Additional firefighters soon arrived at the home, and they deployed several hose lines while conducting a “defensive attack” on the fire.

It took MCFR and OFR crews approximately 10 minutes to extinguish the flames. The fire was called under control at 10:12 pm.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and origin of the fire, according to MCFR.

There were no injuries reported.
