The Fort King National Historic Landmark will host a festival this weekend that will transport visitors to the 1800s through re-enactments and historic-themed crafts, games, and activities.
The Festival at Fort King will be held on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.
During both days of the event, visitors will learn about life at Fort King in the early 1800s.
The event will include historic-themed crafts, games, activities, living historians, and a variety of food and craft vendors.
In addition, local history will be brought to life with a re-enactment of the events that fueled the start of the Second Seminole War.
Admission is free and free shuttle parking is available at the Duke Energy power line field, approximately a quarter mile east of the fort. The field is located between NE 43rd Avenue and NE 44th Avenue on the north side of E Fort King Street.
Free shuttles and trams will be running continuously throughout the event for pickups and drop-offs.
An ADA tram will be available for handicapped or disabled guests.
