Marion County firefighters came to the rescue of a dog Sunday morning who was trapped inside a home in southwest Ocala after a fire broke out.
Shortly after 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 15, Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residence located in the 11000 block of SW 72nd Avenue in Ocala. An individual had called 911 to report smoke rising from the house, and a dog was trapped inside, according to MCFR.

Within five minutes, MCFR crews arrived at the home and observed the homeowner in the driveway, with smoke visible near the front of the residence.
While paramedics tended to the homeowner, firefighters quickly entered the home and located the source of the fire. The flames were soon extinguished.
Firefighters also located the homeowner’s dog, Tia, and brought her out of the residence. Crews then immediately began treating Tia with an oxygen mask.

MCFR stated that the homeowner was transported to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. One of the homeowner’s neighbors took the rescued dog, Tia, to a local veterinarian.
There were no other injuries reported.
No further details were provided by MCFR regarding the cause of the house fire.
