An accident on Monday afternoon that occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 has created traffic congestion for several miles on the roadway.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the accident took place near mile marker 348, just before 1:15 p.m. on Monday, January 6.

No details are yet available on the nature of the crash or the extent of any injuries.

As of 1:50 p.m., traffic was backed up beyond mile marker 344 in the northbound lanes. Additionally, the right shoulder is blocked and several emergency personnel are on the scene.
