A pedestrian who was attempting to cross a roadway on Thursday was fatally struck by a semi-truck being operated by an Ocala man.
The fatal accident took place along U.S. Highway 19 in Citrus County on Thursday, February 6.
According to a statement from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 50-year-old Ocala man was driving a tractor-trailer southbound on U.S. Hwy 19, just south of W Merrivale Lane.
The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by the front of the truck at around 2:20 p.m.
According to FHP, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the crash.
No additional details were made available by authorities.
Last month, a separate Ocala driver was involved in a fatal, head-on collision in Levy County after attempting to pass another vehicle.
