Interstate 75 I-75 Exit 350 State Road 200 SR 200

State Road 200 will continue to experience alternative lane closures in Ocala this week, as state crews work to install concrete curbs, sidewalks, and planters.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising residents of ongoing, rotating daytime and nighttime road closures from east of Interstate 75 to U.S. 301.

The closures will be in effect during the day (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for the northeast-bound and southwest-bound traffic through Saturday, March 8.

Additionally, there will be closures on the same lanes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day this week through Sunday.

Workers, who are under the purview of the Florida Department of Transportation, have been installing curbs, sidewalks, and planters along State Road 200 for months.

Last week, the state provided an update on the ongoing construction along the roadway.

During that update, FDOT indicated that the median will be constructed east of Interstate 75 and east of SW 17th Street. That was updated from MLK Jr Avenue to U.S. 441.

FDOT always indicated that all of its construction plans have been designed to minimize lane closures, with construction of medians coming in 1,000-foot to 1,500-foot segments.

The state says that contractors are working “night and day” to finish the project.

All of the work is part of project 439234-1, which calls for the implementation of safety and operational enhancements to State Road 200 from east of I-75 to U.S. 441.
