A school bus carrying 19 children was involved in an accident in Marion County.
The two-vehicle crash, which involved a car and school bus, occurred at around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, near the intersection of NW 155th Street and NW Gainesville Road (County Road 25A) in Reddick, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that the car was traveling southbound on a private roadway when it approached NW 155th Street. At the same time, the school bus was heading eastbound on NW 155th Street, approaching the intersection of NW Gainesville Road.
The car’s driver and sole occupant, a 71-year-old Citra woman, made a left turn onto NW 155th Street as the school bus came to a stop in the roadway for the traffic ahead. The woman failed to stop her car in time, and its front right section collided with the left side of the school bus, according to the report.
A trooper noted that the school bus had a total of 19 children onboard at the time of the crash. There were no injuries reported to the students, the 52-year-old female bus driver, or the driver of the car.
After the crash, both vehicles relocated off the roadway.
