A brush fire broke out behind a Walmart in southwest Ocala on Monday.

Ocala Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a brush fire behind the Walmart located at 2600 SW 19th Avenue Road (Easy Street) on Monday, April 7, at around 4:53 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames passing through the wooded area behind the retailer.

According to OFR, firefighters were able to contain the fire before it reached any of the neighboring structures.

There were no injuries reported and traffic in the area was impacted briefly.

The brush fire comes just days after the Fernadez Fire destroyed hundreds of acres within the Ocala National Forest.
