Ocala police quickly apprehended a suspect accused of snatching an elderly woman’s purse in Six Gun Plaza before running into a nearby restaurant this afternoon.
Ocala Police Department officers responded to Six Gun Plaza (4901 E Silver Springs Blvd) on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a report that an elderly woman’s purse had been stolen.
According to a witness on the scene, the suspected thief had entered a nearby restaurant after stealing the purse.
Photos shared by the Ocala Police Department show units parked outside of the Chipotle, which is located at 4916 E Silver Springs Boulevard, across the street from the plaza.
Officers located the suspect in the restaurant and detained her shortly thereafter.
Ocala PD detectives are currently investigating the incident and more information will be shared as it becomes available, according to authorities.
“There is no danger to the public,” reads a statement from OPD.
Multiple residents and readers of Ocala-News.com in the area at the time of the incident reported the large police response to the plaza, which is located in east Ocala.
