A kitchen fire destroyed a mobile home in Silver Springs early Monday morning.

Marion County Fire Rescue units were called to a home in the 5600 block of NE 165th Terrace Road in Silver Springs at 1:02 a.m. after the caller reported that his neighbor’s home was on fire.

Crews arrived on the scene at 1:11 a.m. and encountered a working fire that had consumed 75% of the home. According to MCFR, the residents of the home self-extricated from the home.

Additional emergency personnel arrived on the scene a short time thereafter and began deploying multiple hose lines to attack the fire.

Several firefighting crews from local stations responded to the scene.

The fire was eventually called under control at around 1:53 a.m. No injuries were reported to firefighters or the occupants, according to MCFR.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
