A 25-year-old convicted felon from Ocala was arrested on more than a dozen charges after he allegedly fled from a Wendy’s parking lot, leading police on a high-speed car chase that ended with a rollover crash at a local apartment complex.
On Saturday, May 10, at around 3:30 p.m., Ocala Police Department officers responded to the parking lot of the Wendy’s located at 3001 E Silver Springs Boulevard after receiving reports of a man wielding a rifle, according to OPD.
When officers arrived, the male suspect – identified by police as Voshon Lasef Brown – fled from the parking lot in a white sedan, prompting a vehicle pursuit.
OPD stated that Brown reached “dangerously high speeds” while fleeing from officers. During the pursuit, Brown allegedly veered into the wrong lane and struck another vehicle.

According to police, Brown’s car proceeded to crash through a wooden fence at the Mustang at Ocala apartment complex, and his car rolled onto its roof.

After the collision, Brown allegedly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot while carrying a rifle.

An officer pursued Brown and detained him after deploying a Taser. In a media release, OPD said that the rifle was located underneath a parked vehicle, and marijuana and related paraphernalia were allegedly found during a search of Brown’s car.

A criminal history search of Brown revealed that he is a convicted felon.
Brown was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation due to the crash. Once he was medically cleared, he was booked into Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.

Jail records show that Brown is facing the following charges: aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, two counts of criminal mischief, three counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brown is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10.
