A new Wawa is under construction next to two other gas stations in south Ocala, marking the gas station chain’s eighth location in the city.
The new gas station is currently under construction at the southwest intersection of U.S. Highway 441 and SE 52nd Street.
Construction crews have been working at the site for months. The new gas station will be located just south of the Ocala Drive-In. It is at the same intersection as a Circle K and a BP gas station.
Although construction of the facility is all but finished, an opening date for the new location has not yet been announced.
When it opens, the new Wawa will join seven others that have opened in Ocala since 2019. Last September, the Pennsylvania-based gas station chain opened its seventh location in the city at 2277 SW Highway 484.
That property with that gas station was eventually sold this March.
Wawa opened its sixth location in the city along State Road 200 in February 2024. The company opened its first three gas stations in Ocala simultaneously in 2019 at 1001 S Pine Avenue, 3601 E Silver Springs Boulevard, and 3312 W Silver Springs Boulevard. It opened its fourth gas station a few weeks after the others at 4025 SW College Road, and it opened its fifth location at 3080 SE Maricamp Road in February 2020.
As of July 6, there are currently over 1,100 Wawa locations across the United States, including just over 300 in the state of Florida.
Outside of Ocala, the company has opened multiple gas stations nearby, including locations in Belleview, The Villages, Lady Lake, and Leesburg.
