A Marion County horse business that sells feed products and hay has reported that they have lost “everything except for one truck” due to a devastating fire that broke out Tuesday night.
Marion County Fire Rescue units responded to reports of a large fire at Tizwhiz Feed & Hay on Tuesday, August 12, at around 7:33 p.m. Located at 15398 NW 44th Avenue Road in Reddick, 911 callers reported seeing heavy smoke and flames emanating from the building at the time.
Crews arrived on the scene a few minutes later and began attacking the fire, which was threatening nearby homes. According to MCFR, as firefighters were deploying hoselines, multiple explosions were heard. Additionally, four tractor trailers on site were consumed by the fire.
A total of 29 firefighters responded to the fire, which was eventually brought under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by authorities. There were no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
In a social media post, the company described the fire as “heartbreaking” and “devastating.” According to the statement, the business was notified about the fire at around 7:30 p.m. In response to a comment about the fire, the business also shared a brief statement concerning its future.
“We have opened the doors for over the last 15 years and we will continue to do so. We have lost everything except for one truck. But I can assure you, we will continue on, not only for our employees but for our loyal customers who support us, not only seasonly but year round. We care about our customers, many who have become friends,” reads part of the statement.
Tizwhiz is a farm direct delivery store that sells nutritious horse feed products and hays. The business has been in operation for over 15 years at its location. The building it occupied was built in 1967, according to Marion County property records.
