To the Editor:

I have lived in Florida since 1959, when I was 9 years old. I have lived around the state. Development is everywhere in most Florida towns. Cities were built out decades ago and expand out so the rural areas are also getting crowded.

There are some small towns left in Florida and other states, but usually with less convenience and low paying jobs. It depends on what you want.

Big city, big money, show and tell or small town, close to nature, not a slave to fashion.

Crime is also a factor. Large or small towns can have crime. North and south Florida have big winter differences. Quality of life and transient areas are another. Wealthy get what they want, condo commando’s, HOA KGB’s and lawsuits.

What do you want? Life in Okeechobee or a national forest area in the panhandle. Research before you jump in. Life in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Palm Beach, lots of traffic, high costs, transient atmosphere, crime, high insurance rates, code enforcement hassles. Pick your life, but don’t try to change everything after you move in. Real paradise is in heaven. Good luck, California is still on the west side of America.
