To the Editor:

Generations of my family (great, great grandparents to current grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) have lived out in the forest (Hog Valley to be exact) to live a quiet, peaceful very rural life and, for the most part, it has been great.

Seeing the bears, deer, all the beautiful birds, just wildlife in general, it’s very serene.

Now, they are pushing to make it a national park, they want to do away with Rodman Dam, many people fish there. With the cost of food and everything else rising, I can see why.

Big developers want to come out and destroy the peaceful community that locals have contributed to for generations and it’s not fair to the residents nor the wildlife. What good is it going to do to make it a national park?

It’s going to bring more asphalt, it’s going to tear up and build up where local wildlife live, forcing them into populated areas even more than they are now.

What’s going on? No. No. No. We will fight this. All the way. Keep Ocala National Forest the way it is, we don’t want more traffic, crime, or visitors. We want it the way it is or we wouldn’t be there.
